It's easy to see how doctors or teachers can help, but what about YOU? Why would any organisation accept you as a volunteer when you’re 'just' a... what?
'Just' a waiter? Dealing with the public, smiling whilst working fast under pressure, finding out what is needed, making an accurate note of it and delivering it? Plenty of organisations can use your skills.
'Just' a student? If you can gather information, analyse data, write reports and essays that follow logical arguments and work to deadlines, you definitely have skills to offer.
'Just' a mother? With skills such as tact, diplomacy, organisation, communication, common sense and being able to do 63 different things at once, there are many opportunities open to you.
Sometimes just being an English speaker is enough, if you're enthusiastic and willing to help. Many organisations take volunteers with no specific, work-related skills. |
Whoever you are and whatever you do, you undoubtedly have something to share. You just need to work out what it is. For more help in identifying your skills, register as an InterVolunteer.
