Whilst you can never fully know what a country is like until you get there, you can learn a lot before you go. By finding out as much as you can before you travel, you'll have the knowledge to help you stay safe and to make the most of your trip.
It's a good idea to find out about issues such as climate, visa regulations, health hazards, trouble spots, local traditions and public holidays. For a more comprehensive list of issues to research, register as an InterVolunteer.
In most cases, the country's tourist board will be happy to offer information. The British Foreign & Commonwealth Office will offer travel advice to its citizens, and you can gain advice on vaccinations from various sources including your GP or local chemist. |
For each country, we have put together a quick description and some links to useful websites. These are not exhaustive, but contain a few ideas to get you started.
